80th Anniversary Remembrance for the Battle of Lion Box

Shot at Dawn

Visitors are advised that the Shot at Dawn Memorial will close to the public on Monday 6 May. The memorial will undergo restoration and will be closed for approximately six weeks whilst these works take place. Free Shot at Dawn Talks will continue to take place daily at 12.30pm and 1.30pm in the Millennium Chapel, please ask at the Welcome Desk for more information. A Remembrance service roll call for the Battle of Lion Box, Kanglatongbi 1944 to honour the 105 men of British and Indian armies of the 14th Army in March/April 1944.

Starts at the Remembrance Centre.

Parades to the Burma Star Memorial for the service, including Last Post, Silence, Roll Call and wreath laying. 

The Battle of Lion Box Kanglatongbi defended British supplies and ammunition against Japanese attack.

Representatives of Regiments and Corps involved in the battle will be present to support members of the men's families.
