Use DE13 7AR for satellite navigation systems, and RAC and AA route planners.
M1 (southbound) – exit at Junction 28 and take the A38 south bypassing Derby and Burton to the A513 Tamworth. Follow local signage to Alrewas, then brown signs to site entrance.
M1 (northbound) – exit onto M6 north then after Corley Services , follow signs for M6 (Toll) & M42. Leave at next junction (Junction 9 M42 ) signposted A 446, then follow A446 Lichfield to A38 Lichfield, then A38 Derby to A513 Tamworth. Follow local signage to Alrewas, then brown signs to site entrance.
M6 (southbound) – exit Junction 15 and follow A50 Derby then A38 Lichfield to A 513 Tamworth. Follow local signage to Alrewas, then brown signs to site entrance.
M6 (northbound) South of Birmingham – follow signs for M6 (Toll) & M42, then leave at next junction (Junction 9 M42 ) signposted A 446. Follow A446 Lichfield to A38 Lichfield, then A38 Derby to A513 Tamworth. Follow local signage to Alrewas, then brown signs to site entrance.
M6 (northbound) & M6 North of Birmingham – leave M6 at Junction 11, follow A5 then A38 Derby until A513 Tamworth. Follow local signage to Alrewas, then brown signs to site entrance.
M54 (eastbound) – leave at Junction 1 and take A460 Cannock passing over M6. Continue towards the A5 (Tamworth), then A38 Derby until A513 Tamworth. Follow local signage to Alrewas, then brown signs to site entrance.
Arriving by Train
Lichfield Trent Valley is the closest railway station (5-6 miles). Alternatively, Lichfield City, although further, is located close to the bus station and provides the best public transport links. Burton upon Trent and Tamworth railway stations are also both about 8 miles away.
Arriving by bus
A daily bus service (number 812) operates between Burton upon Trent and Lichfield via Alrewas village (a 30-minute walk to the Arboretum). A suggested route is detailed below:
Take the 812 bus for approximately 30 minutes, departing the vehicle at Wellfield Road, Alrewas, located outside the Alrewas Royal British Legion building.
With The Royal British Legion on your right, follow the footpath up the slip road and over the A38 flyover.Having crossed the slip road, take a left and walk downhill alongside the A38 slip road and the footpath beside the south bound carriageway of the A38, continue walking until you are opposite the petrol filing station. Take the right onto Croxall Road. Continue walking, over the railway line, along Croxall Road, the Arboretum is located, on the left, after approximately 1/3 mile.

Arriving by Taxi

Arriving on bicycle
National Cycle Route 54 runs from Lichfield to Burton upon Trent through Alrewas village. From Beacon Park, Lichfield, follow the route to the canal bridge at Fradley. Turn right and follow the signed cycle link to the Arboretum. The distance from the canal bridge at Fradley on route 54 to the Arboretum is approximately 3 miles.
Bicycles are not allowed within the Remembrance Centre, and should not be used on site.
Arriving by canal boat
The Arboretum is situated a few miles from the Trent and Mersey Canal and is accessible via bridges 46, 47 or 48 in Alrewas village, approximately a 40-minute walk to the Arboretum. To help plan your arrival, download our detailed directions from the Trent and Mersey Canal document.
Parking is available for cars, coaches and motorcycles, subject to availability, on a car park adjacent to the Remembrance Centre. A second car park located along Croxall Road, past the entrance to the Arboretum site, is also available. Please follow the instruction of our signage and parking marshals, where applicable, who will advise you where to park. A number of wider blue badge and family spaces are located close to the Remembrance Centre. A drop-off/pick-up area is located next to the entrance of our Remembrance Centre.
Visitors arriving by car should be aware that a parking charge of £3.00 (coins) per day applies (pay and display). This also applies to blue badge holders. There is no charge for coaches or motorcycles.
Special parking arrangements may apply on event days.
Coach Operators should always book their arrival times with the Arboretum on 01283 245 143.
Please note: all monies from parking fees are given directly to the charity and help to ensure the National Memorial Arboretum remains a free entry site.
