Ride to the Wall

Armed Forces Memorial Closure

Due to a private service, the Armed Forces Memorial will be closed to the public on Tuesday 8 September until around 1.30pm.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Ride to the Wall sees thousands of motorcyclists from around the UK come together to remember the names engraved on the walls of the Armed Forces Memorial.

Since 2008, motorcyclists of all ages, and from across the country, have participated in this annual pilgrimage. Since their first fundraising ride 18 years ago the Ride to the Wall community has raised over £2 million for our charity, with every penny being used to support our work here at the Nation's year-round place to remember.

During the day, a Service of Remembrance takes place at the Armed Forces Memorial, allowing participants to take a moment to remember and reflect together.

Register for the event

Riders can make their own way to the event or gather with others at one of 12 marshalled starting points. You can find out more about the event, and register to ride via the Ride to the Wall website.

Visiting on the Day

Our grounds will be open as normal on the day, however a park and ride facility will be in operation on this day, and all cars travelling to our site will be directed here.

The park and ride will be operating from Alrewas Showground, which is located a few minutes from our grounds, just off the A513 on Daisy Lane, Alrewas, DE13 7EW.

All members of the public (including blue badge holders) will be directed to the Park & Ride facility. The Park & Ride facility will be clearly signposted on the approach, and regular, wheelchair accessible, shuttle services to our site will be running throughout the day. We advise that all visitors allow plenty of time to park and transfer to the event.

Visitors wishing to bring their own mobility scooter to site on this day should call 01283 245 100 before booking as mobility scooters cannot be accommodated on the shuttle service. Mobility scooters will be available to hire, although advance booking is required.

Our normal parking charges will apply, and we do recommend you book in advance to gurantee entry to site, and to save on our daily parking charge.

What is Ride to the Wall?

Ride to the Wall is a unique motorcycling event which gives motorcyclists an opportunity to gather together at a place of Remembrance, to pay their respects to our serving and fallen service men and women and in doing so, raise funds for the purpose of perpetuating their memory and recognising the sacrifice made.
