Take a break in the Remembrance Centre to explore our exhibitions, or enjoy a delicious lunch within our 300-seater Restaurant with a range locally-sourced and lovingly prepared hot food, snacks and cakes.
Dedicated in honour of the 47 British personnel who died in the liberation of Kuwait and all those who fought in the Gulf War, the Gulf War 1990-1991 Memorial comprises three stainless steel supporting pillars representing each of Britain’s three Armed Forces.
Further along the path, within the wood, a magnificent four metre sculpture cast in bronze creates a magical remembrance space for all. The Tree of Cherished Memories is inspired by Hawthorns found in our grounds, and features personal dedications to individuals on its leaves.
As you head back towards the Remembrance Centre, you will see The National Memorial to the Evacuation (The British Evacuees Association). The memorial, entitled ‘Every Which Way’ symbolises the bewilderment and anxiety many evacuees experienced as they were torn from their homes and sent to live in the country during the Second World War.
