Birdwatching for Beginners

During this three-hour guided walk we will teach you how to recognise the wide variety of birds seen at the Arboretum over the year.

Our dedicated guides will explain migration and which birds to look out for in the different seasons. They will try to get you to recognise common bird song as a means of identifying different birds and also give tips on attracting birds into your own gardens.

This three-hour walk is at a leisurely pace to suit all ages.

Please note that the Remembrance Centre has adjusted opening hours during the winter months, and will not be open to the public until 10am. When you arrive for your activity, please convene at the front of the Remembrance Centre at 9:00, after which the group leader will lead you onto site to begin.  Toilet facilities are available on site at the Millennium Shelter.  Refreshments may be purchased from the Remembrance Centre after 10:00.

Please note this walk will be taking place outdoors on our Arboretum grounds, so we recommend that all participants wear appropriate footwear and clothing.

At times this walk may deviate from our dedicated dog walking route, visitors wishing to participate in this activity are unable to bring dogs to this event.
