Gurkha Chautara Memorial Dedication
23 September 2014Tuesday 23 September 2014
HRH The Princess Royal visited the National Memorial Arboretum today to dedicate a memorial for the Gurkhas.
Designed in the style of a Chautara, a stone resting place traditionally used by Nepalese sherpas, it was dedicated in memory of all Gurkhas who have lost their lives in service of the British Crown.
The opening ceremony is a precursor to a series of events scheduled for next year which will commemorate the 200 year anniversary of Gurkha service to Great Britain.
