weather

The Arboretum is a large open air site. Please ensure members of your group come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear. Our gift shop sells umbrellas, wet weather garments and sunhats.

ACCESS

Visitors in wheelchairs and electric scooters are well catered for. There is level access to the Visitor Centre, where toilet facilities are available, and firm, level paths give good access to much of the site.

Wheelchairs and electric scooters are available on loan from the Visitor Centre but, to ensure availability, they should be booked in advance. We respectfully ask that a suitable donation is made for use of a manual wheelchair and we charge £5 for a motorised scooter.

Please note that motorised scooters are not permitted in the Visitor Centre, manual wheelchairs are provided for indoor use.

"My wife and I visited today, WELL DONE,
so many names ... so many names, military and civil organisations. The most sobering aspect is that there is so much room made for the dead of further wars. To me that aspect was heart-breaking. At last we now have somewhere to mourn our losses."

VISITORS WITH DOGS

Only working assistance dogs are allowed in the formal grounds of the Arboretum and into the Visitor Centre.

A public footpath runs around the perimeter of the grounds, dogs walking along this footpath must be kept under close control and must not stray off the footpath into any other areas of the Arboretum (including on/near the memorials).

A map can be collected at reception with details of the route. We ask visitors to not leave their dogs in their cars, as there is no shade in the car park.

"I was visiting from New York and was lucky enough to have one of my relatives take me on a tour of the Arboretum. It was so moving. Thank you."
