The National Memorial Arboretum - Welcome to the National Memorial Arboretum website

The Arboretum is situated in the centre of England on Croxall Road, Alrewas in Staffordshire. It is easy to reach from any part of the country and is close to all the Midlands motorways.

ACCESS BY CAR

Getting to The Arboretum by car is very easy.

M1 (southbound) – exit at Junction 28 and take the A38 south bypassing Derby and Burton to the A513 Tamworth then local directions.
M1 (northbound) – exit onto M6 north then after Corley Services follow signs for M6 (Toll) & M42 then leave at next junction (Junction 9 M42 ) signposted A 446, then follow A446 Lichfield to A38 Lichfield, then A38 Derby to A513 Tamworth then local directions.
M6 (southbound) – exit Junction 15 follow A50 Derby then A38 Lichfield to A 513 Tamworth then local directions.
M6 (northbound) South of Birmingham – follow signs for M6 (Toll) & M42 then leave at next junction (Junction 9 M42 ) signposted A 446, then follow A446 Lichfield to A38 Lichfield, then A38 Derby to A513 Tamworth then local directions.
M6 (northbound) & M6 North of Birmingham – leave M6 at Junction 11, follow A5 then A38 Derby until A513 Tamworth then local directions.
M54 (eastbound) – leave at Junction 1 and take A460 Cannock passing over M6 continue towards continue then follow A5 (Tamworth), then A38 Derby until A513 Tamworth then local directions.

Local directions: from A38 at Alrewas follow Brown Signs to the National Memorial Arboretum following A513 towards Tamworth after about half a mile turn left at the roundabout following the road round to the Arboretum entrance.

Parking

Parking is available for cars, coaches, motorcycles and bicycles.

Visitors arriving independently by car should be aware that a maximum parking charge of £3.00 per day applies (pay and display) with lower prices applying for half a day and during winter months. There is no charge for coaches or motorcycles.

Please note: all monies from parking fees are given directly to the charity and help to ensure the Arboretum remains a free entry site.

Coach Operators should always book their arrival times with the Arboretum on 01283 792 333 to avoid disappointment.

ACCESS BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Trains: Lichfield Trent Valley is the closest railway station (5-6 miles). Alternatively, Burton and Tamworth railway stations are both about 8 miles away.

Buses: A number of different bus service providers operate in our locality:

Midland Travel

Daily service between Lichfield bus station
and the Arboretum.
Daily service between Tamworth bus station
and the Arboretum.

Arriva Travel

Daily service between Burton upon Trent and
Alrewas village.
Daily service between Burton upon Trent and
the Arboretum.

Please note, there are two separate routes, to the Arboretum (direct) and Alrewas village (a 15 minute walk from the Arboretum). There are different timetables for weekends/bank holidays.

ACCESS FOR CYCLISTS

National Cycle Route 54 runs from Lichfield to Burton on Trent through Alrewas. From Beacon Park, Lichfield follow the route to the Canal Bridge at Fradley. Turn right and follow the new signed cycle link to the NMA. The distance from the Canal Bridge at Fradley on route 54 to the NMA is approx 3 miles, with easy country lane cycling and crossing over the A38 by bridge near the Fradley Arms and Travelodge.
