ABOUT THE MEMORIALS

The Arboretum is home to some many moving and unusual memorials, many of which are visible from the Visitor Centre.

The memorials fall into several categories:

    * Military
    * Civil Services (Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance)
    * Charities
    * Local organisations
    * Overseas organisations

A comprehensive guidebook in full-colour, is available from the Visitor Centre for £6.50.

The Millennium Chapel of Peace and Forgiveness

The Far East Prisoner of War (FEPOW) Memorial Building

If you are interested in information about other War Memorials, the North East War Memorials Project aims to record every War Memorial located between the river Tweed and river Tees.
