The National Memorial Arboretum is the UK's year-round centre of Remembrance, a living and lasting memorial to commemorate and celebrate:
The Arboretum is a unique haven of peace, contemplation and hope for the future. It consists of 150 acres of wooded parkland within the National Forest in Staffordshire where visitors can both enjoy and learn about the trees and their surroundings, and reflect upon their special symbolism. We receive around 300,000 visitors per year, including Service personnel, veterans, students of all ages, groups and individuals and there are over 200 special events held here each year. The Act of Remembrance, including a Silence, is observed daily in the Millennium Chapel. The Arboretum is home to the striking Armed Forces Memorial which commemorates those who have been killed on duty or as a result of terrorism from the end of the Second World War to the current conflict in Afghanistan. An £8 million redevelopment campaign has been launched to create a world-class Remembrance Centre worthy of those who give so much to our Country. The Arboretum has a lot to offer both young and old. Come for a day out to enjoy the peace and tranquillity, the trees, the memorials, the history, the sense of national pride. Have lunch or drinks in the Arbour Restaurant; find all sorts of gifts and memorabilia in our shop; above all enjoy the experience. The staff and volunteers of the National Memorial Arboretum look forward to welcoming you. |
