The following awards provide an insight into the many areas in which the National Memorial Arboretum has sought and achieved excellence, as it becomes the UK's year-round centre of Remembrance.
Lottery's Best Heritage Project 2008

The Armed Forces Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum The Armed Forces Memorial was dedicated in October 2007 and by the Summer of 2008 had already started to claim a place in the public's heart. A record number of public votes were cast in favour of the Memorial, demonstrating huge public support. This has resulted in over 700,000 visitors to the Arboretum in the two and a half years since. |

Cooper Heyman Cup 2009
|
Lafarge Aggregates and National Memorial Arboretum The Mineral Products Association annual award celebrates the the environmental, social and economic benefits resulting from the development of the Arboretum on the site of one of Lafarge's former sand and gravel quarries. The Cooper-Heyman Cup is the premier national restoration award for projects of an exceptional standard and reflects the 'Arboretum’s ‘massive environmental, social and economic benefits'. |
Royal Television Society 2009
|
Regional TV coverage of Armistice 2008 earned ITV Central a prestigious Royal Television Society Award. The broadcaster simultaneously broadcast their entire East and West Midlands evening news programmes from the top of a floodlight Armed Forces Memorial.
They referred to the 'outstanding support provided by the National Memorial Arboretum'. |

European Restoration Best Practice Special Award 2010
|
National Memorial Arboretum land restoration The European Aggregates Association recognised Lafarge Aggregates' role in the creation of the National Memorial Arboretum site on a former sand and gravel quarry, helping it to become an area of beauty, a haven for wildlife and a place of great historic importance, within beautiful wooded parkland. Lafarge has been instrumental in the creation and sustained development of the Arboretum, providing expertise and materials, involvement as a Trustee and active member on management, landscaping and communications committees. |
Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2010

National Memorial Arboretum Volunteer Group
The National Memorial Arboretum's Volunteers are one of the volunteering bodies to win HM The Queen’s prestigious Award for Voluntary Service, equivalent to an MBE. The 120 Volunteers give outstanding service and support to the Arboretum and its visitors, totalling in excess of 28,000 hours last year. |

MBE in 2010 New Year Honours

Les Wills Awarded for his contribution to the West Midlands community, which includes his dedicated and valuable work as a Volunteer at the National Memorial Arboretum since its opening in 2001. |
Gold Award for outstanding Customer Service 2009
|
Lynne Barkas Lynne is the Events Officer at the National Memorial Arboretum and won her Gold Award at the Heart of England's 'Excellence in Tourism' Awards. "I am proud that National Memorial Arboretum has become a national attraction and I’m proud to be part of it" said Lynne. |

Unsung Hero 2009

Judith Thorpe
Judith is Company Secretary and Finance Officer at the National Memorial Arboretum, having been here since the Arboretum opened in 2001. She won the UPS/Tamworth Times/Lichfield Post ’Unsung Heroes’ Competition and said: |
Best Loo of the Year – 2009
|
NMA was voted a 5* standard and category winner at the 2009 Loo of the Year Awards in December, sponsored by Airdri (UK manufacturer of warm air dryers) with additional sponsorship by Remploy and The British Cleaning Council. The four national tourism bodies - Enjoy England, Visit Scotland, Visit Wales and The Northern Ireland Tourist Board set the standards for this coveted Award. |
