23, 24, 25 January 2019, 10.30am - 12.00pm
Join us for one of our free commemorative Holocaust Memorial Day workshops, suitable for KS2 students upwards.
This year’s theme “Torn From Home” encourages our young visitors to reflect on how the enforced loss of a safe place to call ‘home’ is part of the trauma faced by anyone experiencing persecution and genocide. ‘Home’ usually means a place of safety, comfort and security. During our cross curricular, interactive workshop we will reflect on what happens when individuals, families and communities are driven out of their homes, because of persecution or the threat of genocide.
The workshop will utilize verbal discussion and literacy skills and will encourage debate and empathy that supports in-school SMSCD study programs by investigating a variety of real life stories and accounts. The session will cumulate in an Act of Remembrance for students to reflect.
We can accommodate up to 50 students per day and places will be allocated upon receipt of a returned completed booking form available below.

"Our workshops are perfect for students’ spiritual, social, moral and cultural development and for prompting British values, they can also help with a variety of project work" Jo Dodds, former teacher and Learning Officer at the National Memorial Arboretum
