A Spotlight On: Silent Testimony

Coinciding with the opening of the new exhibition, Silent Testimony, the talk by artist Colin Davidson will explore the themes behind the exhibition and his approach to making the work as part of his wider practice.

Since 2010, Davidson has become internationally renowned for his series of large-scale portraits of actors, musicians, poets and public figures. While painting these familiar faces he became increasingly preoccupied, not with their celebrity, but more with their status as human beings. This continuing exploration of ‘common humanity’ is the foundation on which Silent Testimony rests.

Colin Davidson is an internationally-recognised artist who has exhibited across Europe and the US. He has painted several notable figures including Queen Elizabeth II and Ed Sheeran. He is a previous recipient of the BP National Portrait Prize Visitors’ Choice Award.

This talk will be FREE of charge to all, as part of our Armed Forces Day celebrations.
