12 Days of Christmas Memorial Talks - Royal Tank Regiment Grove

From striking glass sculptures to simple stone cairns, there are more than 360 memorials at the National Memorial Arboretum, for both military and civilian associations, all with fascinating stories waiting to be discovered.  Between the 25 December and the 5 January you can discover more about just some of these memorials at our free daily 12 Days of Christmas Memorial Talks.

On the Third Day of our Twelve Days of Christmas Memorial Talk programme you can discover more about the Royal Tank Regiment Grove, which features a model of a Mark V Heavy Tank (Male) which took part in the Battle of Amiens on 8 August 1918.

At dawn on 20 November 1917, the first successful tank battle was fought at Cambrai involving some 300 Mark IV tanks. The arrival of the tank signalled the end of trench warfare and established the tank as a dominant factor of battle right up to the present day.

Other talks will be taking place throughout the day. Please see here for more details.
