A Spotlight On: Remembering, The Holocaust and Memorialisation

Presented by Professor Bill Niven from Nottingham Trent University, this Spotlight On talk will explore the difficult task of finding a memorial language to commemorate the mass death of the Holocaust. In his talk Professor Niven will examine memorials in a number of European countries, and the USA.

Bill Niven is Professor of Contemporary German History at Nottingham Trent University. He has written widely on Germany’s attempts to come to term with its Nazi past, particularly the Holocaust. He is a founding member of the Academic Advisory Board at the National Holocaust Centre and Museum, for whom he is putting together – along with his students – a digital exhibition “Legacies of the Holocaust”.
