National Veterans Day - Friday 27 June 2008

There was a great turn-out to celebrate Veterans Day at the Arboretum this year and the festivities included something for everyone.

During the day the crowd were entertained by Circo Rum Ba and Markmark Entertainment's crazy HMS Pinafore. There were also stalls and exhibitions on a wide range of subjects including Don Higham from Walsall dressed as a World War 1 despatch rider astride an original 1915 Triumph Model H 550C motor cycle.

At 2pm, the Band of the Royal Marines Portsmouth led a Parade of Veterans with an enthusiatic group of flag waving youngsters in the rear.

And the day concluded with a 1940s Nostalgic Musical Concert performed by Company B complete with fireworks.
